The company was founded as a technical and professional services firm in 1987 by Jon Lancaster, a former Sun Microsystems, Inc. engineer and marketing manager. Mr. Lancaster has more than 27 years of experience in the computer industry, including 24 years of experience with UNIX and over 19 years of experience with wide-area and local area networking, intranets and the Internet.

Mr. Lancaster joined Sun Microsystems in July, 1983 as the 126th employee, and the third field technical support engineer in the company based in Sun's Boston office. After transfering to Sun's Mountain View home office in late 1983, Jon managed Sun's marketing technical support group for several years, providing technical support for all world-wide corporate marketing functions. Prior to leaving Sun to form Blue Sky Ventures, Jon was a Senior Product Manager for artificial intelligence and expert systems products.

Prior to joining Sun in 1983, Mr. Lancaster held positions in software development, strategic planning & financial systems consulting at Data Resources, Inc. From 1975 to 1980, Mr. Lancaster held several positions in computer support & operations at the University of California, Davis
